Into the Shadowlands....

There is a stirring in my heart that has never died in the 7 years which I served nearly full time on the mission field.  The heart and yearning to return to the underground subculture ministry which I had served in since I was 19, but that door at the time was closed to me due to the type of ministry which we were doing out on the mission field.  But as our time out there ended, the door to return to the underground subculture world re-opened to me.

For the 7 years which I was serving in missions, I was praying about what type of subculture ministry I would take part in, should I return to such ministry.  It is from those long hours of prayer and seeking God about this, that the Nightwatch Underground Ministry is born.

Based on the verses:

Isaiah  9:2 (NKJV)  "Behold those who walk in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwell in the valley of the shadow of death upon them a Light has shined."

Psalms 119:148 (NKJV) "My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I might meditate on Your Word."

and

Mark 14:38 (NKJV) "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

In all honesty, I had been praying and considering it for a long time, but it was one Navajo Christian, younger than I, who found out I had served in subculture ministry prior to coming to the Reservation who asked me, "Why dont you still do that?  There is such a need, especially among the Native Youth."  That set in my heart for a few months as our last assignment began to wrap up.  Then, the doors began to re-open in major ways to return to this type of ministry.  So, here it is.  The start of Nightwatch Underground Ministries.

Our focus will be on Prayer, the Word, and Service.  Currently our only major project is the Antioch Boxes, but we do have plans for a vlog (video blog) of sorts in the near future.    Prayers from those in the community would be a blessing.
