Why Nightwatch?

Nightwatch or Night Watch: noun
1) a watch or guard kept in the night
2)  a person or persons keeping such watches
3) Usually, night watches, the period or divisions of time into which the night was divided in ancient times.

Nightwatch is taken from the concept of the night watches and the night watchmen.  From times of old onward, people have taken turns watching encampments and cities on shifts through the night to keep them safe.  So to have people taken watches of the night, to pray and study the Word to keep God's people safe.   Traditionally there are 4 watches of the Night, and 4 watches of the day.

The Night Watches are as follows:
First Watch - 6PM to 9PM
Second Watch - 9PM to 12AM
Third Watch - 12AM to 3AM
Fourth Watch - 3AM to 6AM

At Nightwatch Underground Ministry we are committed to reaching the underground subcultures, who have most of their activities at night, in part because that is when many are off work, in part because that is when many of the places they gather are open.  We seek to offer safe gathering places and the love of Jesus among our subculture brothers and sisters.
